Help Needed to Find Lurcher and Return Her to Shelter- Anyone who can help is asked to contact Bath police on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A lurcher has been stolen from Bath Cats and Dogs Home.

Three-year-old Petula, who has unusual markings and has been described as “distinctive”, was taken from her kennel at the Claverton Down centre.

Police believe that two men seen at the home around the time she went missing may be responsible.

It is thought they got into her locked pen and then walked out with the dog on a lead.

Steve Hill, head of animal behaviour and welfare at the home, said they needed the public’s help to get her back safe and well.

He said: “We would appreciate any help the public can give us in the safe return of Petula.

“As a charity working tirelessly to care for and re-home unwanted animals in our area we are deeply saddened that individuals would steal a dog such as Petula who, after a very tough start in life, was waiting to find her loving home.

“This was not an opportunistic theft and we continue to put the welfare of animals in our care at the forefront of all we do.”

The theft is believed to have happened at around 4.15pm on Friday, June 24.

Officers particularly want to talk to a man and a woman in their mid-20s, who they stress were not involved, but arrived at the home around the same time in a white soft-top car.

It is believed they might have information about what happened.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Bath police on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
