Massachusetts: AEGA/Greyhound Friends Host Annual International Greyhound Welfare Conference

The 5th Annual International Greyhound Welfare Conference in Hopkinton, Massachusetts set for July 30th and 31st.

International Conference  will focus on welfare and adoption issues concerning racing greyhounds, galgos, lurchers, and other crosses.

Topics include:

  • The current state of greyhounds and greyhound crosses in the American Mid-West, Ireland and Spain.
  • Advocate concerns about greyhounds as a breed since racing is in decline.
  • The consequences of breeding track dogs with hunting dogs.
  • The future of greyhound adoption and protection issues.

Where:

The conference will be held at Greyhound Friends Inc. 167 Saddle Hill Road, Hopkinton, MAUpdates on current issues such as the decline of greyhound racing in the United States and the UK and the subsequent repercussions on the greyhounds will be reviewed. There will be a overview of the current international situation including a dialogue on the recently defeated plans for Irish racing greyhounds to be exported to China. Concerns about the expansion of racing to Asia and South America will also be discussed.
