Greythound Guardians, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that organizes the annual Sandy Paws-Greyt Fun in the Sun Greyhound Gathering. The gathering is held each March at Jekyll Island, GA and net proceeds from the event are distributed to greyhound adoption groups and animal welfare organizations. Directions to event: Take I-75 to the I-16 split South going towards Dublin. Get off on the first exit - Spring Street/Gray Highway. Get in the right hand lane and go almost directly across Spring Street to the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail to the River Walk. You may need to take a right and go to across the bridge and turn around.

We will meet up and walk the trail together. All dogs and people are welcomed to join our walk.

Directions to event: Greyhound Friends, Inc. is located on a country road close to the intersection of the Mass Turnpike and Route 495.

From the Mass Pike, take Exit 11A to Rte. 495 South. From 495 South, take Exit 21A and you'll exit onto West Main St. Proceed to the first light and take a left on Lumber St. Extension. Take a quick right on to Elm St. Take Elm St. to the end and make a left onto Wood St. Next is a quick right onto Proctor St. and another quick right onto Saddle Hill Road. The shelter is on Saddle Hill Rd. 1.5 miles up on the left side.

Annual Fall Open House

Our annual fall open house will be held on Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st, 12:00-5:00 both days. There will be lots to do - shopping for greyhound items and human items! Good food, lots of greyhounds and their owners for socializing, the popular "Not Quite Westminster" dog show, and more! The kennel will be open for visits to the greyhounds waiting for their homes, and the fenced field will be available to let your greyhound run in. Location: Houghton's Pond Recreation Area, Blue Hill River Road, Milton MA

Directions to event: Take Exit 3 off Route 93 (Houghton's Pond/Ponkapoag Trail exit). Follow signs to Houghton's Pond. Pass the Ball Fields/Picnic sign and continue straight on Blue Hill River Road. The parking lot to our reserved Picnic Site #5, is on the right.

Each year local groups Greyhound Adventures and Trail Bound Hounds team up to celebrate and honor the Greyhound during Greyhound Planet Week. Current Greyhound owners and those interested in adopting are welcome to attend to learn more about this unique and wonderful breed on Saturday, September 13th (raindate Sunday, Sept. 14th).

People and their leashed Greyhounds are invited to meet at Houghton's Pond for a leisurely walk around the pond. Pack a lunch or food to share, bring a blanket for casual socialization after the walk. Chat with friends and meet other Greyhounds and their owners. Picnic tables, bottle water, soft drinks and goodie bags will be provided.

Attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently used collars, leashes, harnesses, coats and non-liquid first aid supplies, for a collection to be donated to SCOOBY.

Bring your well-mannered dog and family to Aquaport for a fun evening of swimming. All dogs are required to wear an I.D. tag, have current vaccination records, be recently bathed and on a leash unless swimming. An adult must accompany children under 18 years of age. NO other animals will be allowed. Kiddie Pool will be open for small dogs only.

K-9 Splash

The City of Chesterfield Parks & Recreation Department in cooperation with Dogparks of Greater St. Louis. (D.O.G.S.) is welcoming you to the Chesterfield Aquatic Center for the annual K-9 Splash. (16365 Lydia Hill Drive). This 38-acre park, which is being developed in stages, consists of the Family Aquatic Center featuring a 25-yard competitive pool, a leisure pool with slides, play structures, splash spray ground and a wading pool, lazy river with hydrotherapy pool and 2 slides; playground containing a play component for ages 2-5, another component for children ages 5-12, swing set, benches, picnic tables, and funbrellas; and a pavilion which is available for rent. Future developments could include walking trails, amphitheater, and a lake. There is a maximum of two (2) dogs per family. You must have the most recent record of vaccinations for your dog to participate. Play catch, swim about, or just hang out. For more information call (636) 537-4000.

One half of the entry fees will be contributed to the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation. The Alliance is the only non-profit organization lobbying full time on animal welfare issues in Missouri. Mark your calendar and plan to join us for some good clean fun, while helping the Alliance speak up about puppy mills and other legislative issues involving animals. Doggie Paddle Party - Doggie Paddle takes on a whole different meaning! You and your canine can stop by our aquatic center for an afternoon dip. To offer this fun-filled activity, we have teamed up with the People for Dogparks of Greater St. Louis (D.O.G.S.) and the Manchester Homecoming Committee. Dogs can paddle, swim, run and play at their leisure at our aquatic center. Admission: $10.00 includes dog and owner (limit 2 dogs) $3.00 for each additional person
