Katie, a stray Lurcher, survives near death in Warrington. Now seeks loving home
A STRAY dog who was found at death’s door on Christmas Eve is now back to full health and is on the hunt for a new home.
Katie, a five-year-old brindle lurcher, was spotted frozen and starving under a hedge in Manchester on December 24, 2009.
Charity the Mr Cedric Trust Team, based in Delamere, took her in where she was fed and cared for before being vaccinated in May 2010.
In March 2011, Katie went to live with Jenny Thomson, who runs Padders Dog Training, in Runcorn.
Jenny, aged 50, said: “I have been working a lot with Katie to rehabilitate her back into society.
“Now she is a loving family dog. She is fully house trained and loves people and other dogs.
“She will be very affectionate to the person who she takes her on.
“She does need an experienced handler and would be best placed with older children.
“Katie has been in kennels for a long time and is getting frustrated which is why we want to find her a loving home in Warrington.”
The Mr Cedric Trust, which was founded in 2009, was set up to help abused or neglected greyhounds and lurchers.
It is an independent organisation that relies on sponsorship and donations from the public to ensure the best homes are sought for the dogs.
